Source Notes:
This detection was announced by MAGIC in an
ATel on 19 April 2018. The
blazar is part of the 2WHSP catalog (
Chang et al., 2017), a catalog of
high synchrotron peaked blazars. With log(peak_freq) of 17.9, its peak
frequency is towards the highest energy of the blazars listed in the
catalog. It is classified as an extreme high-energy peaked BL Lac object.
Source Position:
From
Chang et al. (2017)
No positional uncertainty is reported since this is not a position
measured using VHE gamma rays.
- R.A. (J2000): 113.3612 deg = 07h 33m 26.7s
- Dec. (J2000): +51.8983 deg = +51d 53' 53.9''
Distance:
At the time of its detection, the redshift of this blazar was unknown.
From
Becerra Gonzalez et al. (2018):
- the redshift has been determined to be: z = 0.065:
... "We obtained a high-SNR spectrum with the 10.4m GTC telescope within
the DDT proposal GTC2018-099, to investigate weak spectral features
from a low-SNR spectrum obtained previously from the 2.5m INT
telescope. The observations were carried out on 02/05/2018 with OSIRIS
in longslit configuration and grism R1000B, covering the wavelength
range from 3650 to 7700 A. The redshift of PGC 2402248 was measured as
z=0.065, derived from the identification of several spectral features:
CaII doublet, G-band, MgI and NaD."
Flux:
From
Mirzoyan et al. (2018):
- the VHE integral flux above 200 GeV corresponds to approximately 1%
that of the flux from the Crab Nebula above the same energy threshold
Spectral Information:
From
MAGIC Collaboration (2019):
The spectrum of the source was reconstructed between 0.1 and 8 TeV:
- Flux normalisation at 200 GeV: (1.95 ± 0.10stat) x 10e-11 ph cm-2 s-1 TeV-1
- Spectral index (observed): 2.41 +/- 0.17
- Spectral index (intrinsic): 1.99 +/- 0.16 (absorbed using model of
Dominguez et al. 2011
- Integral flux > 200 GeV: 22.5 +/- 0.60 x 10e-13 ph cm-2 s-1
From
Fallah Ramazani et al. (2019):
- dF/dE = F_0 (E/r)^-a
- spectral index, a, (observed): 2.41 +/- 0.17
- F_0: 1.95 +/- 0.10 x10e-11 cm-2 s-1 TeV-1
- r: 0.2 TeV
